What is the message of the poem,

Question:

Answer: While the willow is very beautiful, it's portrayed as weak, fragile, ethereal even. The ginkgo has more substance to it. It's sturdy, thriving, even though it isn't as beautiful. The last two lines "My eyes feast on the willow / but my heart goes to the ginkgo" explain that the author would rather be affiliated with the ginkgo (strong, sturdy, sure, etc) than with the willow. The author is opting for substance over skin-deep beauty. In my opinion :)
