What the heck is going on?

Question: when i was playing with my pet gerbil he jumped off my hand and onto the hamsters cage!! Before i could do anything my gerbil has already gotten into the cage Right when i tried to get him out my gerbil was CUDDLING up with my hamster. it is very weird. Then when i took out my gerbil and put him back in the cage he started getting very uncomfortable. The really weird thing is they showed no signs of aggressiveness once so ever. My question is should i let them mate?I no it sounds crazy but every time my gerbil sees my hammy he starts licking my hand and wanting to go in my hamsters cage. My gerbil is only one and my hamster im not so sure about.

Answer: They cannot breed together. They are different species. I would not let them live together because they will likely get aggressive with each other in a short period of time. Maybe your gerbil would be happy to have another gerbil friend.
