How do i get my Gerbil to use his wheel?

Question: I have a regular one thats on the stand not built into the cage. ive had it in there for 6 days now and they still havent used it

Answer: You could try putting the gerbil on the wheel, did he have one in his cage in the pet store? Of course the gerbil will use it on his own, but make sure the gerbil gets some excersize so it can stay healthy, atleast if your gerbil doesn't run around its cage every so often! If this is so important for the gerbil to use his wheel, then you may want to buy a ball where the gerbil must roll around in it and he can adapt to it on its own! Also, if you put a few dabs of yogurt, the gerbil will have to spin the wheel to get to the food, and he'll catch on in no time!
